One of my favorite things about homesteading is that it constantly presents opportunities to learn new skills, and new challenges to puzzle out. I never would have guessed that keeping ducks and chickens would have led me to spend this morning learning how to splice wires. "Thankfully," 😉 the knuckleheads pecked up the wiring of their (super glam, super $$$) automatic coop door, so here we are and we can all laugh together at "butt splices"... please tell me I'm not alone in this. 😂 It took way longer than planned, but in the end I had frankensteined in some spare parts and... When we were first getting into ducks and chickens, I did a ton of research on what might be the "perfect homestead breed" for us. Cold-hardy, dual purpose, docile... Despite all that, I just couldn't land on only one breed, and now I'm glad I couldn't!
